John DeCuir, Jr.
Production Designer
John DeCuir, Jr. has designed feature films for television and themed exhibitions in Italy, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Japan, Canada and throughout the United States. He began his film design apprenticeship on the Academy Award winning film CLEOPATRA. Following this he moved on to Disney to become project designer on the master-planning phase for WORLD SHOWCASE and EPCOT for ten years.
Then, John returned to film art direction on the film GHOSTBUSTERS, and later as the Production Designer for TOP GUN, TURNER & HOOTCH, Stephen Kings SLEEPWALKERS and SISTER ACT II.
John has also assisted Disney in their theme park film attractions: JIM HENSONS 3-D MUPPET MOVIE, ALIEN ENCOUNTER and EPCOTS ENERGY PAVILION.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree (cum laude) from the University of Southern California and completed two years of graduate work at its Institute of Building Research & Technology. John currently continues his film design work, teaches at the American Film Institute, as a senior lecturer, and is completing his book THE ARCHITECTURE OF ILLUSION.
